This is the beginning of a long, friendly and entertaining debate amongst the writing public of tnation. This will be much like a point/counterpoint where one of us takes a positive position on an issue and the other takes the other position. We can't promise that the writing will be good, but hopefully it will spur some discussion!

I really don't think steroids have added all that much to the game of baseball. I've always been of the opinion that steroids aren't going to help you hit a baseball, which is one of the hardest things to do in professional sports.

People argue that the record books are tainted. I guess you can argue that as far as individual season records, but over the long term steroids and other performance enhancing drugs hurt performance. Look at Jason Giambi, what a scrub. I wouldn't even put him on the MaximumTailgating.com Softball team. In fact outside Clemens and Bonds, I haven't been impressed with any of the names mentioned in the steroid fiasco.

Actually, I'm upset that my ESPN is consumed with this nonsense, when I should be hearing about that 6'8" high school school womans basketball player terrorizing the field.
